The spicy balls are aptly named.
If you don’t know what an abstract daddy is, it’s probably for the best. But if you’re curious, you can find out over here. Keep in mind that Silent Hill is a survival horror game meant for adults and surf wisely.
Sorry for the lateness this morning. Things were pretty busy this week and the comic wasn’t finished until 4am or so. That’s how it goes sometimes. If you’ve ever thought about making a webcomic, consider how much you like sleep.
The omnipotent being Q ventured into the Starbase in Star Trek Online over the weekend and was handing out double experience rewards. I ranked up to Commander and got another ship. I’m trying to make it to Captain before I have to quit in a couple of weeks. The Crystalline Entity apparently requires a fleet to take down. I was not successful in my attempts to solo it – not even a little.
Have I mentioned that I’m a huge fan of Star Trek? I should probably mention that. I like everything Star Trek in general although I’m aware that some bits are better than others. I’m glad they rebooted the series and I kind of wish they would make a television show based on the new movie. I guess we’ll see how that goes.
It got darned cold over the weekend. So much so that I cranked up a fire in the fireplace. I hope that my tomatoes on the back porch haven’t suffered too much. They should be okay if it didn’t freeze though. Maybe someday I’ll have a greenhouse and avoid this problem altogether.
A lot of people seemed to like gnocchi last week. You know what else is awesome? Knish.
Have a good one!

Nice to see Ivy again since the end of the anime dream arc. Can’t believe I’m actually here first. Don’t worry I’m not of those kinds of people. Anyway, I have to agree with her about Hank. Seems like he’s afraid of other people’s opinions when they look at him and Treiss.
lol i think a lot of people would be agreeing with Ivy about eyes rolling!
Come on, Hank, even Ivy can see it, and she’s blind!
Oh my.. that’s not the creature she should read about now 0_o
And Hank’s expression in the first panel – so positive!
That’s the character I identify myself with the most
PS. I was a bit worried the comic was late, glad that was nothing serious (I need to prepare a strip for Wednesday, oh boy…)
I’ll be the first to admit; some of us were thinking the same thing.
I’m amused that the spicy balls were so hot it burned off the sepia-tone lighting filter used for the other panels.
I’ve got a lifetime sub to Star Trek, because I thought it had a lot of potential when it launched. It didn’t quite live up to that, but I do like to log back in once in a while and shoot stuff. What makes it amazingly nerd-tacular, however, is that I have voice commands programmed so I can tell my game to go to warp, and it does, or to rotate the shields, etc. Makes the game about a million times better (especially if you’re a trekkie nerd)
That is pretty cool. I used to work for a company that made a hardware add-on that did speech recognition for games. It went out of business though. These days the same thing is easily accomplished via software and modern CPUs.
Love seeing Ivy again, course it shoudn’t really since she’s one of my faverits. Though it is rather surprizing… She has no eyes!? Well no wonder she’s blind!
Also dosn’t look like the cold war between Hank and Treiss still isn’t over.
Actually, the tomatoes should be fine. Just bring them inside if it gets too cold again.
Someone else already mentioned it, but how does Ivy have no eyes? My dad was blind, and he still had eyes. Did someone steal them?
The real version of Ivy was born with a genetic condition where the eyeballs never formed – so she really doesn’t have any eyes. We decided to make Catena Ivy the same way.
Real Ivy is just as obnoxious and playful as any regular cat though. Her whiskers and gigantic ears help a lot.
Am now wildly anticipating each comic. Thank you for giving Monday a redemptive quality (besides Chuck, of course).
Wow. So… will you be at DragonCon in September?
where is Dragoncon being held?
It’d be neat. I’ll give it a “maybe”. It really depends on expenses.
Ivy! :3
She’s so right XD
You know, the ‘If I had eyes’ thing may be only hyperbole to her blindness.
No, the cat Ivy is based on really has no eyes (explained a few pages ago), unless I miss your point.
Huh? That can’t be right.
Hum, you’re right.
Still, I can’t get it. I mean, no eyes? That’s got to be weird.
It is, but you get used to it after a while.
You know it might actually be a good thing that the creatures in Silent Hill are as distorted and hard to make out the details as they are. Otherwise there is no way it ever would be put into production, and even if it was then everyone who’d play it would have to remove there eyes as well.
You know… if you like Star Trek so much… maybe you would also like EVE – Online. It is a very point and click kind of game but, the universe is the largest in gaming existence.
Shores of Hazeron would beg to differ on the “largest universe” comment
Only problem is…I’ve heard Eve described more as a job than a game, and given some of the really *nasty* stories I’ve heard come out of it, especially at the higher levels of play? Not really sure the Bailieys would enjoy it that much.
I’ve heard of Eve Online. I have some friends who play it too. I looked at it, but it seems like it takes a really long time to do anything cool and is probably more involved than I want to get into. Star Trek Online let me hit Commander in 2 weeks and gave me 3 different ships to play around with. I need that fast pace to fit my schedule. Thanks though!
Eve Online is the best. I play it for 4 years already (actually today is anniversary, I started on May 3, 2007)
All other games aren’t even near.
The best part of EVE is that your character makes a progress even when you are offline… (So age of character is what really matters (though after 1-2 years you will be probably really good in some things already, they don’t go one after another they are all separate issues (there are some base skills needed for everybody, but all others are specific)), but of course real game experience matters too)
And there are no limitations on what u can train (e.g. my main character already can fly ships of all races (4 years is hell of a lot of training skills, even though sometimes i took breaks for 2-4 month i never stopped training skills (they are trained over time no matter if you are online or offline, if you are paying for your account, it’s really neat to come after 4 months and see that you have already trained your characters to use new cool thingies)
And also there is a legal way to sell playing time for ingame currency. (though no Real Money trading, only time, but if you are committed it is very possible to play for free, 30 days of playing worth not that much in ingame currency)
Ivy is a shipper. I think I love her more. Abstract Daddy is the official name of the monster some call “Doorman.” What?
I ship it,
.
Awesome!
Hey DeBray, I’m getting tired of the same old voting incentive I receive after voting because I’M A FAN. When’re you gonna come up with some new material? Sorry for sounding like a troll.
I’ll probably remove the TWC button when traffic from it dwindles. Having to make a new voting incentive on top of having to make a new comic every week is too much for the return we get from TWC.
That was a tiny bit funny… But it is a cliche.
Ivy needs to iuse the trifecta of knowing him a long time, being skillful, and pretty obviously being fond of him, to make Bear her boyfriend. Yesssss. Plus, Bryony gets to tease, then.
